Latest Linux kernel version
This program reads the latest kernel version from kernel.org and prints the version to stdout.
The URL to download each version can be printed instead, to automate downloading of the most recent stable or mainline builds.
The following options are supported:
-s Prints the version number of the most recent stable release. This is the default if no other options are specified. -u Prints the download URL of the most recent stable release. -m Prints the download URL of the most recent mainline release. -n Prints the URL of the Git web interface of the most recent linux-next release.
If more than one option is specified, output is printed in the following order:
- latest 'stable' version number;
- latest 'stable' URL;
- latest 'mainline' URL;
- latest 'linux-next' GitWeb URL.
The output of this can be passed to other applications such as curl or wget.
